Vacillating?

I am not the writer I once was.

Yet are we ever? While lately I keep scraping out minor compositions, there is a very consequential, compelling piece that is clawing inside me, burning to be composed.

I seem to feel rather listless because of it...It's like trying to pull out an extremely stubborn thorn with oily fingers.

Words, words! Everybody wants words. I can only speak in the equivocal, the convoluted, the coy...so it seems.

What if I've none to give?

At the very least, you may have all the mysteries you desire
from me.

My Latest Fancy

I have taken a rather unexpected fancy to...well, fancy gig posters; namely, those commissioned by bands for designers in order to advertise upcoming events. These compositions usually entail crazy, varying forms of stylistic art, depending on the artist. This love first flourished out of an innocent purchase of an Explosions in the Sky poster I came across on eBay. I unraveled the package in order to be astounded by the incredible beauty of screen printing (not to mention the metallic inks on this baby!). It was completely unexpected, and completely infatuation in an instant. No doubt cultivated by my scholarly endeavors in Graphic Design.

This has led to the purchase of two additional posters (EITS, of course) and I am no where near through this phase yet. I plan to ravage my way through Explosions in the Sky, Eluvium, The Album Leaf, STS9, Mogwai, A Silver MT. Zion, Mono, GYBE, Pelican, God is An Astronaut, Russian Circles, Slowdive, 65DaysofStatic, Tarentel, Set Fire to Flames, Fly Pan Am, Tortoise, This Will Destroy You, Symmetry, Red Sparrows, The Evaptoria Report...etc., etc., whatever I can get my hands on. I have no idea where I am going to display them all when I run out of room space between my bedroom and study...My next house will surely be FULL of these beasts.

This is entry is intended to track my progress, not to mention shamelessly spam for those who might want to buy me a present. (Kidding, kidding....maybe. 30+ bucks a pop is a lot for a kid in college!) Yep. So, here goes! A great resource for past poster art for shows is GigPosters.com.

My first!

Then...

...and!

The pics don't do them justice...so beauteous! I just wish that some of these weren't so hard to find...

Well that's about it. My best,

Philos
